Poker Chronicle

This blog is for my personal records of 1/2 No Limit Live play at casinos.

I usually only play 1/2 No Limit and on rare occasions 2/5 No Limit. I will try to tell my poker experiences at the casino, good calls bad calls, bad beats and donkey stories.

I try to get to the local casino once or twice per week. Usually Saturdays and sometimes on Fridays when I take a day off from work.

I\’ll start with my last 2 trips to the Indian casino.

Session 1:

Friday (02/13/09)

I buy in for the max which is $200.00 in this poker room.

I start out tight and catch some good starting cards early that do not produce any help on the flop. After raising pre-flop and completely missing I tried a few continuation bets only to find 2 or 3 callers each time. This table seems a little loose and I find myself down about 100.00 fairly quick and never seeing the river. Crap, good hole cards keep coming and there seems to be no help on the flop.

At this point I tighten up even more and try to be patient. I can see there is some money to be taken if I ever get some help. There are two players calling anyones bet with 2nd and 3rd pairs down to the river and actually winning with these bad hands. I see $\’s in my eyes if I just wait a bit.

In the 3rd hour of play I catch a few good hands and start getting my money back. Nothing special but solid pairs and two pairs that get chips in my stack. Now things are looking up, I have chips and the two donkeys are starting to pay off.

Now the one big hand for me comes. I have pocket Kings in late position.

There is a 15.00 pre-flop raise and its gets 3 callers, two of them are the loose players that are known to call off their money. The second of the two loose players raises another 15.00 to make it 30.00 to me.

I pause and then re-raise another $100.00 hoping to either take down the pot right now or at least get it down to 1 player.

Everyone folds except the raiser and he goes all in for another 30.00.

When we flip the cards up he has 75o. (OMG) Can you ask for anything more ?

I actually can\’t remember the exact cards flopped but the board did pair 2\’s.

I win a really nice pot putting me well up for the session.

The next two hours I was completely card dead and just folded and folded.

I decided to call it a day after playing about 6 1/2 hours and having a nice win to take home. I plan on coming back the next day so I wanted to leave with a win.

Next day post coming later.
